HPPSC Deputy Director – Educational Qualification

Candidates must satisfy the essential qualification prescribed by HPPSC.

Essential Qualification

The candidate:

  • Should be a retired/released Ex-Indian Army Commissioned officer of the rank of Colonel/Lt Colonel/ Major/Captain or equivalent status of the Indian Navy/Air Force.

Desirable Qualification

Knowledge of the customs, manners and dialects of Himachal Pradesh and suitability for appointment considering the peculiar conditions prevailing in the Pradesh is desirable.

Age Limit

The candidate’s age should be below 57 years.

The age will be reckoned as on 01 January 2026.

Selection Process

As per the notification, the selection procedure can involve the following stages:

  1. Objective Type Screening Test / Descriptive Subject Aptitude Test (SAT)
  2. Personality Test

The exact written-test route depends on the number of eligible candidates in relation to the number of advertised posts.

Paper-I

Where the full written examination scheme applies, Paper-I is a 100-mark objective-type screening test of one hour duration.

Paper-II – Subject Aptitude Test

Negative Marking

For objective-type screening tests:

  • 0.25 marks of the marks assigned to a question will be deducted for an incorrect answer.
  • Giving more than one answer is treated as incorrect.
  • Leaving a question completely blank also attracts the same penalty.
  • Candidates who do not wish to answer should use the designated Option E.

Personality Test

The Personality Test carries 30 marks and will be conducted at the HPPSC office at Shimla.

Minimum qualifying marks are:

  • General Category: 40% (12 marks)
  • Reserved Categories: 30% (9 marks)

The final ranking is determined by the marks obtained in SAT (120 marks) + Personality Test (30 marks), subject to the applicable selection procedure.

  • Matriculation certificate for age proof
  • Degree certificates and marks sheets, wherever applicable
  • Experience certificate(s), wherever required
  • Valid category certificate, if applicable

  • Ex-Servicemen Discharge Certificate/Service Book
  • Relevant details regarding PPO number, rank and retirement/NOC for claiming Ex-Servicemen reservation
