SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the official notification for the Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination, 2026. This is an golden opportunity for candidates who have passed Class 12th and are looking for a Central Government job.

SSC CHSL Vacancy 2026

The Commission has announced approximately 2,536 tentative vacancies. The number is not final at this stage and may be updated later after the concerned departments complete their vacancy-related process. Updated post-wise and category-wise vacancies will be made available through the SSC website.

The main posts covered under the examination are:

• Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA)
• Data Entry Operator (DEO)
• Data Entry Operator Grade ‘A’

SSC CHSL Salary 2026

The salary depends on the post and corresponding Pay Level.

The pay scales mentioned above are as given in the SSC CHSL 2026 notification.

Educational Qualification

For LDC/JSA and most DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’ posts, candidates must have passed 12th Standard or an equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.

There is a specific qualification requirement for DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’ posts in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Staff Selection Commission and Ministry of Culture. For these posts, candidates must have passed 12th in the Science stream with Mathematics as a subject.

Candidates who are appearing for their 12th examination can also apply, but they must possess the required qualification by 7 October 2026.

Age Limit

The age limit for SSC CHSL 2026 is 18 to 27 years as on 1 August 2026.

Candidates must have been born between 2 August 1999 and 1 August 2008, inclusive. Relaxation in the upper age limit is available to eligible reserved and other categories according to Government of India rules.

• SC/ST: 5 years
• OBC: 3 years
• PwBD: 10 years
• PwBD (OBC): 13 years
• PwBD (SC/ST): 15 years

Application Fee

The application fee for SSC CHSL 2026 is ₹100.

Women candidates and candidates belonging to SC, ST, PwBD and eligible Ex-Servicemen (ESM) categories are exempted from paying the fee. The fee can be paid online through BHIM UPI, Net Banking or eligible debit cards.

The application correction window will remain open from 14 October to 16 October 2026. Correction charges are ₹200 for the first correction and ₹500 for the second correction.

SSC CHSL Selection Process 2026

The SSC CHSL selection process mainly consists of Tier-I and Tier-II Computer Based Examinations.

Tier-I Examination

Tier-I contains four sections:

• English Language
• General Intelligence
• Quantitative Aptitude
• General Awareness

Each section carries 25 questions and 50 marks, while 0.50 marks are deducted for every wrong answer.

Tier-II Examination

Candidates who qualify Tier-I will be eligible for Tier-II. Tier-II includes Mathematical Abilities, Reasoning and General Intelligence, English Language and Comprehension, General Awareness, Computer Knowledge and the applicable Skill/Typing Test.

The Computer Knowledge Test and Skill Test/Typing Test are qualifying in nature. The Skill Test is mandatory for DEO candidates, while the Typing Test applies to LDC/JSA and other applicable posts.

Final selection is based on performance in the relevant Tier-II sections along with the post preferences submitted by candidates.
